A Quick Note on Planning
OK, so here I am in NYC working in my company’s office on 5th Avenue for a few days. Great trip and I just got a new site up and running, www.AuctionBusinessReviews.com. My next objective is to work on some of the marketing for my new book, www.CrackingtheAuctionCode.com.
So I have been sitting here for about an hour. Jumping around online and getting completely distracted. When I finally got focused and ready to take the next step (some PPC advertising was step one), I realized that I don’t have a next step. I worked so hard to get the site up for the book, have been trying to get the new blog to the point that I was happy with it and trying to work through Rich Schefren’s GPS course that I never took the time to plan my marketing strategy for the book.
I know most of the pieces but I just don’t have my plan laid out. Nothing to follow. I know where I want to go. I took step one and I began to flounder when it was time to actually put my plan in motion. I guess I can’t put a plan into motion if there is no plan.
So, I have the overall strategy for my business but I need to map out the details of the day-to-day work. The moral of the story is, you have to actually put your plan in writing. Get it on paper, in a mind-map in a word doc or even in notepad. Just get your plan of action mapped out! That’s the next piece of my plan, CREATING THE PLAN!

I have over 15 years of experience as an Executive and Entrepreneur. But at the end of the day, I am no different than you. I want financial freedom and I am busting my butt to make a better life for me and my family and I am doing it online. This blog is a little bit of what I have to lend to your cause. I hope you and enjoy and would like you to comment freely. Feel free to contact me with your questions too. Let me help you get unstuck and on the road to the profits that you deserve.
JL,
You are too right when you write about being online and being distracted. There are too many times that I have been getting work done on my Internet marketing and an hour or so after I have started I actually get to work. Like many other online business owners, I work a full time job and need to use the time I am on the computer more wisely.
I think that having an over all plan mapped out is only a third of what is needed to have a successful business. You need to have a schedule. This is the second third of the pie. Finally, you need to be disciplined enough to follow the plan and stick to the schedule.
