Niche Sites, Are They Really Worth the Effort???

I get asked this question quite a bit so I thought I would give you the Cliff’s Notes answer.  Yes!  Did you catch that?  Yes!

I coach quite a few individuals and there are four things that I stress to anyone starting out:  blogging, selling on eBay (where I got my start), niche sites and traffic generation.  I tie list building into all of these so don’t think I forgot about it.  Here’s my down and dirty take on niche sites.

Niche sites pretty much force you to do what you should be doing for any internet marketing income stream, KEYWORD RESEARCH.  Everything online revolves around the opportunity. If you are blogging, your posts should be optimized.  If you really want to suck the traffic in, focus some posts on some very opportune keywords. If you are selling on eBay you need to know where the opportunities lie.  What products have a lot of searches but not a lot of product listings or competition.

The same goes for niche sites and your traffic generation methods.  BUT, here is where niche sites stand out.

You can easily overlook any blog optimization just like you could skip competitive research on eBay.

Niche sites are built around the premise that YOU ACTUALLY did the research.  You know the opportunity and you know your target keywords. Now that you have that nailed down, WordPress has made building your niche site as easy as falling out of a canoe and traffic generation can be as easy as outsourcing a few articles on your top keywords and outsourcing the posting of your articles to the top directories.

You have to consider how you are going to monetize your site, have some patience to let it grow and understand the benefits of having a traffic system that will build long term profits for you.  But again, to make a long story short, yes, I fully endorse niche sites.
