Making Money Online, Part One

Yep, I am sure you have heard it before:  making money online.  A lot of people are doing it, a lot more want to do and a very few of those that want to do it WILL do it!  This isn’t going to be the end all be all of making money online.  What we are going to do is get a few ideas out on the table and then proceed to explore each of these a little more in-depth in the months to come.

First to bat will be eBay.  eBay and ecommerce are the two vehicles that I used to get started in the internet world.  eBay is the best way I know of that you can get off the ground and start a business making money online with little or no investment up front.  It is a great foundation builder, lead generator, acquisition tool and training ground all in one.  Selling on eBay is a no brainer if you are looking to get your feet wet online.

Next, I will have to defer to ecommerce.  Now, if you have not and do not plan on selling on eBay, then you may want to skip to the next paragraph.  This is not to say that you cannot build a solid ecommerce business from scratch, but my experience tells me that selling on eBay and your own ecommerce site go hand-in-hand and are the perfect compliment to each other.  If you already have a foundation in any aspect of the online world (any experience from selling to web design to blogging) you can probably tackle launching your own ecommerce business.  BUT, if you are brand new to this world and have little to no experience, I suggest jumping into eBay first and then growing into an ecommerce business from there.

Affiliate marketing comes up third and is the preferred method of making money online for 1000′s of internet marketers.  And if it is not your preferred method, almost everyone online is doing it in some form or another.  Anytime that you promote someone else’s product online and get paid a commision for it, you are practicing affiliate marketing to earn money online.

Batting cleanup is blogging.  Blogging has caught on immensely over the past five years and some estimate that there have been nearly 200 million blogs created and around 350 million blog readers out there.  Not only is it very easy to get started, it can be free and there is an allure to the inherent simplicity of making money from blogging.  Well, every wolf wears sheeps clothing at some time or another and blogging is no different.

Even though it is the top Social Media/Web 2.0 vehicle of the decade, not everyone is getting rich by blogging.  It is estimated that 60-80% of all blogs are abandoned within one month of their creation.  I am one of those statistics.  After a few feeble attempts at setting up my own blog, I finally decided to focus on it (because I really enjoy writing and paying it forward) and do it right.

Coming in fifth (but not even close to last), we’ll talk about writing your own ebook/creating your own info product.  A lot of people are intimidated by the thought of writing their own book.  You can even get away without writing anything at all if you really want to!  There are a lot of resources out there to help you get your own product on the market within days.  If you are willing to take action and have a do what it takes attitude, you can have your own info product selling in no time!

There are a lot more ways to make money online but these are close to the top if not the top five ways most people consider.  It is the few that actually follow through with unyielding persistence that are successful.

Making money online can make for a fun and rewarding home business.  Just to be able to work from home is incredible but to work at home and take advantage of an online business opportunity is absolutely amazing!
